Lets face it at some point in our professional careers we have either faced or will face a situation where we here the dreaded words we are downsizing our company. It happens across all job classifications and in all industries and can dramatically alter the events of your life.
Having experienced this first hand and dealing with dozens of clients who have experienced this as well I can tell you that being downsized is not very pleasant. The first reaction is normally why me? I work much harder than Tom or Susie…the reality is that the decisions that are made during company restructuring are often subjective and have very little to do with your particular skills or performance. While hard to take these decisions are not personal in most cases.
A number of years ago I received some terrific advice from a mentor of mine that I pass along to each of my clients going through a company restructuring event. Believe in yourself and focus on your strengths. Everyone of us has strengths whether you are a skilled sales person, a master craftsman, an accounting clerk, a CEO, computer programmer, or an auto mechanic. The trick is to understand what those skills are and then be able to leverage those skills into viable long term opportunities.
This is why i believe so strongly in the concept of franchising. A franchise concept allows people to invest in a business that leverages peoples strengths and at the same time provide the security of controlling your own destiny.
Most people do not realize this but there are over 3000 franchise concepts out there representing over 75 different industries. If your skills are as an account then there are plenty of franchise businesses that call for those skills, if you are an auto mechanic there are over 25 different franchises that are auto related…You get the point.
For the average person surfing the internet looking for the right franchise is almost impossible. The choices are overwhelming and the average person does not have the experience to determine the good from the bad concepts.
This is why the services provided by a franchise consultant Like MatchPro is so valuable. Not only do they have the experience to gather the information needed to qualify candidates but they know the things that determine a good concept from a bad one.
A good franchise consultant is worth their weight in gold.
