Many of my clients have looked for additional revenue streams for their current businesses and franchising was an excellent way to accomplish this. The franchises typically had a synergy with their current processes or could be cross-sold to their client base.
Here is an example of how that works.
John owns a window cleaning company. He visits homes everyday, and discovers that many of his customers have window screens that are destroyed or missing.
Since John doesn’t currently do screen work, he refers customers to several window screen companies he knows. But he sees that he’s losing extra revenue that could be going into his own pocket. There’s potential for the window screen business to become a significant add-on revenue driver for his existing window cleaning business.
John looks into several business models for window screen sales and identifies a franchise company that does screen repair. It meets his investment requirements and accomplishes his goal of add-on revenue.
By leveraging the infrastructure and marketing of his current business, John’s investment turned out to be minimal. He has now doubled his previous revenue.
Like John, I work with clients everyday who are in the fields of accounting, construction, health care, retail, and food service and want to leverage their current businesses with concepts that add additional revenue streams.
